Delivery & Returns

From the workshop to your door.

Every sofa is made to order and shipped directly from the workshop that builds it — here is exactly what happens between your order and your living room.

Lead times

Made-to-order sofas take 8–10 weeks from deposit to delivery. That covers hand-building your sofa (4–6 weeks), then around 4 weeks for freight, customs clearance and final-mile delivery. We confirm your estimated delivery window when you order, and email you at each stage — when your sofa enters the workshop, when it ships, and when it lands in the UK.

These are honest estimates rather than guaranteed dates. If anything is going to push your delivery materially beyond the window we gave you, we tell you as soon as we know, rather than letting the date slide quietly.

The price you see is the price you pay

We ship delivered duty paid. We are the declared importer of record: we clear your sofa through UK customs and settle all import duty and import taxes ourselves, before it goes anywhere near your address. There is nothing to pay on delivery — no courier holding your sofa hostage over a customs charge, no invoice arriving three weeks later.

Prices shown are the full price of the product. Delivery is shown separately at checkout and added before you pay, so the total you approve is the total you are charged.

Payment structure

You pay a 30% deposit when you order — that commissions the build, because hide selection, cutting and frame construction all happen long before your sofa is finished. The remaining 70% is charged automatically to the same card once your sofa is finished — we email you at least three days beforehand with the exact amount and date, and you can opt out and pay another way at any time. Nothing ships until the balance is settled, and no further payment is ever taken afterwards.

We accept all major cards, and the balance can also be paid by UK bank transfer. Full detail is on our Payment & Security page.

Delivery day — exactly what happens

Once your sofa clears UK customs it passes to our specialist furniture delivery partner. They call you to book a delivery day that suits you — usually within 10 working days of clearance, and we tell you if a particular consignment is running longer. You get an AM or PM slot, and a call around an hour before the team arrives.

Delivery is a two-person service to your room of choice and includes: unpacking, fitting of the legs (sofas travel on small protective legs to prevent transit damage — the team swaps them for your real ones), positioning, and removal and recycling of all packaging unless you ask otherwise. Deliveries run Monday to Friday.

On arrival, please inspect your sofa before signing. Your signed delivery note is your proof of purchase and guarantee record, so keep it with your papers. If anything is wrong, tell the team, note it on the delivery note, and email us photographs the same day — that gets it resolved fastest, and it does not limit your rights if you spot something later.

Please check access before you order. Measure your doorways, hallways, stairwells, lifts and turning space. Because frames are built and upholstered by hand, allow up to 3cm either way against any stated dimension. If you are at all unsure, email us your measurements and a photograph of the route and we will tell you honestly whether it will go in. If access fails on the day and delivery has to be re-attempted, a flat £75 re-delivery charge applies to each further attempt.

Single armchairs and smaller items may arrive by standard courier without the unpacking and packaging-removal service.

Cancellations and returns

Before production begins you can cancel anything, for any reason, and get every penny back — deposit included, no deductions, no questions. Just email info@abbusinessadvisory.com with your order reference. We email you on the day your order enters production, so you always know exactly where that line falls, and if you're not ready to commit we'll hold your order rather than start.

After production begins it is different, and we would rather be straight with you about why. Because each sofa is built to your specification — your leather, your size, your seat style, your studs — it falls within the exemption in regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, which removes the usual 14-day right to change your mind on goods made to a customer's specifications. The hides have been cut for your order and the piece cannot be sold to anyone else.

From that point your 30% deposit is non-refundable — it is what pays for the hides and the frame already committed to your order. If you do cancel after production has started you owe nothing further; we won't pursue you for the balance. You are asked to acknowledge all of this at checkout before you can complete a made-to-order purchase.

That exemption is narrow, and it does not cover everything we sell. If you buy a leather swatch, a sample, a gift card, or an item at fixed standard specification where you made no configuration choices, you keep the full 14-day right to change your mind.

None of this affects your rights if something is actually wrong. If your sofa arrives damaged, faulty or not as described, we repair, replace or refund it under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — at our cost, including collection. Every piece also carries our 10-year frame guarantee and 2-year manufacturing guarantee, which sit on top of your legal rights rather than replacing them.

The full and authoritative wording is in section 8 of our Terms & Conditions. This summary is here to be readable; the terms are what apply.

Where we deliver

We deliver throughout United Kingdom (mainland), duties paid, at the charge shown at checkout.

Outside the UK? We do build and ship into Europe, but not through the checkout on this site yet — import taxes and duty differ by country, and we are not willing to take your money against a landed-cost promise we cannot yet make precisely for your address. Send us your postcode and country and we will quote you properly, stating exactly what is included and what, if anything, is payable on arrival, before you commit to anything.
